Chevron Strikes Oil and Gas in Block 0 Offshore Angola
Chevron has made an oil and gas condensate discovery in Block 0 offshore Angola, expanding its exploration program across Sub-Saharan Africa. The company encountered more than 300 feet of net pay in what it described as excellent-quality reservoir rock.
The 105-4X exploration well, drilled in the Lower Congo basin, found an oil and gas condensate column exceeding 2,000 feet in the primary Pinda reservoir. Chevron will assess the discovery for potential development as a tie-back to nearby existing infrastructure, providing a potentially capital-efficient route to production.
Chevron Vice President of Exploration Kevin McLachlan said, 'This discovery is another important milestone for Chevron's over 70-year history in Angola.' The company has also expanded its position in Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea while pursuing additional exploration offshore Angola.
