Chevron Sued Over Springdale Boro Contamination
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has published a notice in the August 1 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a proposed Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act Consent Order and Agreement with Chevron USA, Inc. for a contaminated site in Springdale Boro, Allegheny County.
The site is contaminated with polychlorinated hydrocarbons, including TCE. The consent order memorializes Chevron's agreement to conduct further investigation at its property and off-site to demonstrate compliance with Act 2 Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards.
Comments are due by September 30, which is 60 days from the notice. Those wishing to comment should send their submissions to Paul Vogel, Manager of the DEP Southwest Regional Office, at 400 Waterfront Drive in Pittsburgh or via email at RA-EPSW-HSCA@pa.gov.
