Chevron Surges Past Peers with Record Earnings and Debt Reduction
Chevron posted its highest-ever quarterly earnings in its most recent report, which also saw the company pay down a large slug of debt.
The energy major's upstream arm produced crude oil and natural gas across various regions, including the Permian basin in the US and international ventures. The downstream business refines crude into fuels and manufactures chemicals and lubricants, giving Chevron a presence across the full value chain.
The company has been working to reduce its debt load, with a significant reduction during this quarter. This move is expected to make Chevron more financially resilient in case of softer stretches in the future.
