Chevron Trains Over 425 Journalists on Oil and Gas Sector
Chevron Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the capacity of journalists in the Niger Delta region. The company organized a media capacity-building workshop in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council, bringing together journalists to deepen their understanding of the oil and gas sector.
The Manager of Communications, Victor Anyaegbudike, represented Chevron's General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Olusoga Oduselu. He emphasized the media's critical role in promoting transparency and informed public discourse in the oil and gas sector.
Chevron spends an annual average of over one billion dollars on Nigerian suppliers, and Anyaegbudike highlighted the company's sustainable community development initiatives. The Global Memorandum of Understanding pioneered in 2005 has contributed significantly to development projects, and Chevron is now working with government and community stakeholders to register Host Community Development Trusts under the Petroleum Industry Act.
