Chevron Unveils High-Speed Trimaran Vessel for Thai Oil Workers

Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production has unveiled a high-tech trimaran crew vessel to transport oil workers in the Gulf of Thailand. The innovative boat, which can carry up to 90 passengers, is designed to reduce travel time between onshore facilities and offshore platforms by up to 30%.

The trimaran's unique three-hull structure allows it to rise partially above the water at high speed, minimizing vessel roll and reducing fatigue among workers. This is particularly important during Thailand's monsoon season, which can cause operational delays and crew fatigue due to rough seas.

Chevron has also introduced an Integrated Operation Center (IOC), a digital hub that centralizes real-time data streams and platform monitoring. The IOC aims to reduce unplanned downtime and minimize the need for permanent staff on remote rigs.

The company's president, Chatit Huayhongtong, emphasized the importance of technology in bolstering Thailand's long-term energy security. Chevron operates three major offshore production platforms in the Gulf of Thailand, which account for about 20% of the country's total natural gas supply.
