Chicago Alderwoman Confronts ICE, Accuses Home Depot of Complicity
12th Ward Alderwoman Julia Ramirez has taken a bold stance against federal immigration enforcement in her ward. On the first day of school, ICE agents targeted six people who were subsequently detained and taken from their community.
Ramirez joined rapid responders and community members to help mobilize and protect their neighbors. The group confronted ICE agents and successfully pushed them out of the 12th Ward.
Ramirez also criticized Home Depot, which she claims has a pattern of allowing immigration enforcement on its property at the location in question. She accused the company of being complicit in the terror that ICE brings to their communities.
