Chicago Woman Sues Wendy's Over Nearly $100,000 in Medical Bills
A Chicago woman is suing Wendy's over medical bills she claims total nearly $100,000 after eating a cheeseburger from the fast-food chain. Roxie Ellis Douglas alleges that Wendy's failed to safely prepare and serve the meal, resulting in her contracting intestinal infection, acute infectious colitis, and other digestive illnesses.
The case joins a long line of high-profile lawsuits against fast-food chains, including a 1992 lawsuit by Stella Liebeck against McDonald's over scalding coffee. Douglas is seeking over $50,000 in damages and claims that her medical bills total $93,578, including two hospital stays.
