Chrome Browser Hit with Critical Zero-Day Vulnerability, Google Issues Emergency Update

Google has issued an emergency update for its Chrome browser to fix a critical zero-day vulnerability. This type of flaw is particularly concerning as it is previously unknown to software developers, meaning there have been zero days to protect against it.

The bug was discovered by researcher Salvatore Gulizia and reported to Google. The US tech giant noted that an exploit for the vulnerability already exists in the wild, and users are advised to update their browser through Settings > About Chrome as soon as possible.

The security issue, identified as CVE-2026-85046, could be exploited by tricking someone into visiting an HTML page containing malicious code. This would potentially give attackers control of the affected browser tab, allowing them to crash the system, execute malicious code, or steal sensitive data.
