Chrome Shifts to Faster Update Cycle Amid Rising AI Threats

Google Chrome has started its two-week release cycle with version 153. This change was previously announced earlier this year, and it's now in effect. The new schedule replaces the previous four-week milestone update cycle that was introduced in 2021.

The goal of releasing updates every two weeks is to provide users with faster access to new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Although each update will include less content than before, this increased frequency is intended to make it easier for developers to deploy modern web features and for users to receive safety improvements more quickly.

On the security front, Google claims that this change will help protect against fast-moving threats, particularly those related to AI. For enterprise customers, Chrome still offers an 'Extended Stable' channel with updates every eight weeks.
