Chromecast Owners Breathe Sigh of Relief as Google Releases Fix

Google has released a fix to revive older Chromecast devices that were bricked due to issues with setup and usage. The affected models include the original 2013 Chromecast and the second-generation dongle from 2015. To apply the fix, users need to update their Google Home app to version 4.26 or later.

After updating the app, users can perform a factory reset on their Chromecast using either physical buttons or the Google Home app. This will reinitiate the setup process and allow the device to function normally again.

However, it's worth noting that these older Chromecasts are outdated and may not support newer features such as HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos. Google has also hinted at ending updates for these devices within a few years due to their pre-Google TV software and outdated specs.
