Church Leader Baylis Carl Pope Passes Away at 80

Baylis Carl Pope, an 80-year-old from Cisco, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2026. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and had a long history of serving in various churches throughout his life.

Pope served as a pastor, taught seminary courses, and held church leadership positions for many years. He also spent two years serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971.

Baylis was married to Judy Ben Speck of San Angelo on June 27, 1969, a union that lasted an impressive 57 years until his passing. He is survived by his wife and their three children: Stacy Reich, Ginny Witt, and Aaron Pope.
