Cincinnati Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Public Servant Edwin 'Ed' Humphrey
Edwin 'Ed' Hutchinson Humphrey passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 82. He was a devoted husband to Janice (Black) Humphrey for 59 years and loving father to Douglas, Gail, and Scott Humphrey.
Humphrey's family was central to his life, and he spent countless hours skiing with his grandkids at Perfect North Slopes and sailing on Rocky Fork Lake. He also coached soccer teams in the Cincinnati area and watched his grandchildren play for various schools and clubs.
A lifelong learner, Humphrey began his education in a one-room schoolhouse in Miamiville before attending the University of Cincinnati, where he earned both his B.A. and M.B.A. He worked at Procter & Gamble for 28 years, teaching employees how to use email along the way.
Humphrey's true passion was serving others. He served as an elected official for 20 years, first as a Miami Township Trustee and then as a Clermont County Commissioner. He also founded Miamiville Fire and EMS Services and rose through the ranks to become both Fire and EMS chief.
