Cincinnati School Revamps Historic Library in Tribute to Late Educator
Cincinnati's Saint Francis Seraph School is revamping its historic library as part of a new chapter after the school's church closed. The $20,000 renovation is backed by The Home Depot Foundation and a former student who wants to honor his mother's legacy.
The project aims to pay tribute to Ida Favors, who taught at the school for over a decade and inspired generations of students through her love of literacy. Gary Favors, whose mother was an educator, said the renovation is a way to give back to the community where he grew up.
'I saw it firsthand how my mother cared for her students and how I care now for my students and seeing the place where I grew up, where I went to school at, and now to give back, it means a lot,' Favors said. The renovation is expected to wrap up next week, with a dedication ceremony planned for this fall to honor Ida Favors.
