Cink Wins Boeing Classic in Playoff Thriller
Stewart Cink won the Boeing Classic on Sunday in Snoqualmie, Wash., by defeating Miguel Angel Jimenez in a playoff. The Spaniard had taken the lead with an 8-under-par 28 on the back nine, but Cink was right behind him after converting a short birdie putt on the par-3 17th.
Cink's 7-under-par 65 was good enough to tie Jimenez at 12 under, and when they replayed the par-5 18th hole in the playoff, Jimenez placed his third shot in a greenside bunker. Cink took advantage of this mistake with a close-range birdie putt.
This marked Cink's fifth win of the season, which puts him at the top of the PGA Tour Champions leaderboard. He also strengthened his hold on the season-long Charles Schwab Cup points lead.
