Cisco Builds Resilient Software Delivery with Centralized Platform

Cisco ThousandEyes transformed its deployment culture by adopting a centralized delivery model using GitOps and standardized automation. The previous manual, fragmented release cycles were replaced with a unified, auditable path to production that strengthened digital resilience and developer productivity.

The company realized that treating releases as distinct events was incompatible with delivering rapid innovation. It needed a continuous, automated, and governed business process instead of manual checklists and coordination meetings.

Cisco built OdysseyCD, an internal continuous delivery platform on Kargo, which provides a continuous promotion framework. The platform simplifies the developer experience while strengthening delivery governance through reusable verification gates and standardized promotion patterns.

The platform's core pillars are KargoGen for standardizing configuration generation, release gate service for centralizing release-policy and approval decisions, and continuous promotion for integrating automation with policy-driven controls.
