Cisco CEO Says AI, Security Spending Driving Network Refreshes Amid 'Fastest-Moving Technology Transition Ever Seen'
Cisco Systems Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins stated that the company is not at the peak of a 'super cycle' of growth, but rather experiencing long-term opportunities in artificial intelligence infrastructure, security updates, and quantum computing.
The network vendor's Q4 earnings call highlighted enduring drivers of growth, including AI, security spending, and the pending quantum era. Robbins noted that enterprise customers are recognizing the fastest-moving technology transition ever seen, driving a shift in spending within existing budgets towards readiness for these emerging technologies.
Cisco has seen growth in infrastructure assessments through its Cloud Control unified operations platform and IQ assessment platform, which has over 8,600 customers. The company is well-positioned for the AI era with a full-stack portfolio spanning systems, silicon, optics, security, and observability.
Robbins emphasized that customers are reprioritizing spending within existing budgets, viewing readiness spending around AI, Mythos, and quantum-related vulnerabilities as 'not optional.' The CEO noted that this is creating a shift of dollars from other areas in the organizations to IT, with a focus on network refreshes driven by improved cybersecurity.
