Cisco Found to Probably Have Violated Civil Rights of Middle Eastern and Muslim Employees
A US agency has found that Cisco probably violated the civil rights of its Middle Eastern and Muslim employees, according to a determination reached earlier this summer.
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) made the finding after investigating complaints filed by employees in December 2024, detailing how the company's internal communications platform was filled with racist and Islamophobic messages following the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel.
More than 1,700 Cisco employees signed a public letter challenging the tech giant's ties to the Israeli government, which led to an escalation of hate speech on the platform.
Cisco did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but a spokesperson told Politico Pro that the company disagreed with the EEOC's finding and had thoroughly investigated all concerns.
