Cisco Integrates Quantum-Safe Networks with Kets Partnership
Cisco has partnered with Kets Quantum Security to integrate quantum-safe networks into its IOS XR-based routing infrastructure. This move marks a significant step towards scalable, quantum-secure networking for enterprise and critical infrastructure environments.
The partnership builds on Cisco's work with several partners to develop distributed quantum networks that could lay the groundwork for a quantum computing internet by the late 2030s. However, current quantum computers and networks are limited, operating at hundreds of qubits when millions will be needed to achieve breakthroughs in fields like healthcare and aerospace.
Kets claims to offer the UK's most commercially advanced chip-based quantum-safe encryption company. Its QKD system uses photonic chip technology to generate and distribute encryption keys secured by the laws of quantum physics, providing long-term data security against advanced computing attacks.
