Cisco Launches Unified Edge for AI-Ready Compute at the Edge
The modern edge computing platform has evolved to meet the demands of artificial intelligence. Edge computing sites were once seen as smaller, remote copies of data centers, but with AI's increasing infrastructure needs, they've become a critical part of the compute system.
Cisco Systems Inc. is leading the charge in this shift. Their Unified Edge platform is a converged hardware system designed for real-time AI inferencing at the edge. It includes computing, networking, and storage capabilities, as well as integrated 25-gigabit networking, up to 120 terabytes of storage, and redundant power and cooling.
Unified Edge's central feature is its ability to manage infrastructure distributed across thousands of edge locations through Cisco's Intersight management platform. This allows organizations to centrally monitor and manage their AI infrastructure, making it simpler and more efficient to achieve value from their investments.
