Ciscomani and Mendoza Clash in CD6 Debate
The lone debate between incumbent Republican Juan Ciscomani and Democratic challenger JoAnn Mendoza in Arizona's Congressional District 6 took place on September 10, 2026. The candidates went on the attack, with both calling each other liars on various issues.
Ciscomani blamed the high cost of living on the Biden administration, citing the passage of HR 1 as a step to curb inflation. He said that letting people keep their taxes on tips and overtime, extending the child tax credit, and giving small businesses incentives to expand help with affordability.
Mendoza countered by saying Republicans' HR 1 is just one cause of unaffordability, pointing out that Ciscomani voted nine times for tariffs that are raising prices. They agreed that water and border security are high priorities for the district and state but disagreed on the impact to veterans' services.
Ciscomani said he has sponsored legislation to expand the guest worker immigration plan, while Mendoza criticized both parties for 'kicking the can down the road' on comprehensive immigration reform. Early voting starts October 7 and runs through October 29.
