Citrus County Seeks More Commercial Space Along State Road 44
County commissioners in Citrus County are set to consider a proposal that would allow for more commercial space near Clearview Estates in Inverness. The proposed change would permit developers to build additional square footage on property already zoned for businesses.
The area under consideration covers about 77.5 acres along East Gulf to Lake Highway and Run for the Roses Drive, which includes the site of the new Home Depot construction project as well as wooded land that remains undeveloped.
The Planning and Development Commission voted 6-0 on August 8 to recommend approval of the change with conditions, finding it consistent with the county's Land Development Code and comprehensive plan. The PDC also determined that the proposed change would not adversely affect the public interest and would be generally compatible with adjacent properties.
