Cleveland Clinic and IBM Team Nominated for Prestigious Gordon Bell Prize
A team of researchers from Cleveland Clinic, RIKEN, and IBM has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2026 ACM Gordon Bell Prize.
The prize recognizes outstanding achievements in high-performance computing, and this nomination is for breakthrough quantum-HPC chemistry research.
The collaboration demonstrated the largest known quantum-enabled simulation of biologically relevant molecules by modeling a 12,635-atom protein system.
This achievement was made possible through the integration of IBM Quantum Heron processors with supercomputers from RIKEN and other institutions, including 'Fugaku', 'RUQUO' (RIKEN), and 'Miyabi-G' (University of Tokyo).
