Cloudflare Launches Stablecoin Wallets for AI Agents

Cloudflare has begun rolling out programmable wallets for AI agents to pay directly for APIs and online content using stablecoins. The service will support x402, a payment protocol developed by Coinbase, and aims to simplify transactions between machines. Two types of wallets will be available: an account wallet that holds funds and controls spending, and a virtual wallet that uses API key-based payments.

Cloudflare is also working with major credit card companies Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to develop standards for identifying trusted AI agents. This collaboration aims to establish guidelines for merchants to recognize and accept payments from reputable AI sources.
