CNN Data Analyst Accused of Doing Covert Ads for Soft Drink Giants
CNN's chief data analyst Harry Enten has been spotted taking breaks in the middle of his segments to sip on soda, sparking questions about whether he is doing covert advertisements for soft drink giants.
The controversy began when socialist influencer Hasan Piker speculated that Enten was doing an ad for Coca-Cola after he interrupted a polling segment to remark on his beverage. Enten said he was going for a 'classic, a nice Coke Zero,' and took a long sip before continuing with the segment.
Piker noticed later in the segment that Enten also named and sipped on a Diet Coke, leading him to ask if Enten was doing an ad or not. Others expressed similar concerns about Enten's soda breaks, with one X user declaring that his segments should be viewed 'entirely' as ads due to CNN's existing partnership with the prediction market Kalshi.
CNN responded by stating that Enten simply likes soda and that his segments are not advertisements or sponsored content. This explanation was met with skepticism by some, who pointed out that Enten frequently interrupts his polling segments to sip soda and mention products by name.
