A coalition of over 100 companies, led by OpenAI and including big tech names like Microsoft and Google, has issued a joint letter warning that AI-powered cyberattacks are about to become much more common and harder to stop.

The letter, signed on August 27, 2026, is addressed to businesses and policymakers, urging them to prioritize cybersecurity and 'act decisively' to bolster defenses in the era of artificial intelligence.

Cybersecurity stocks have already seen significant gains this year, with some names like Fortinet up by over 102% so far in 2026. The joint letter has added fuel to the fire, causing investors to take notice.

The signatories include a mix of AI-focused companies and more traditional tech players, but notable absentees are Meta, Nvidia, and Apple, which do not appear on the list.
