Coca-Cola Brings the Heat as Premier League Fever Sweeps Kampala
Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda has kicked off the English Premier League (EPL) season in style, hosting a massive watch party at Millennium Park in Kampala. The event was part of the company's efforts to bring football fans together and create a communal experience around match viewing.
The watch party, which offered free entry to fans who purchased a 500ml Coca-Cola for Shs2,000, featured performances by music performers, DJs, and food vendors. Speaking at the launch, Barry Ottieno, Senior Marketing Manager at Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, said the company's decision to partner with the Premier League was driven by the strength of football culture in Uganda.
“Ugandans love football,” Ottieno said. “Football is an important passion point connecting Coca-Cola with its consumers.” The partnership aims to build on that relationship by creating experiences where fans can watch matches together while enjoying entertainment and Coca-Cola products.
The activation continues into Saturday, with Manchester United scheduled to face newly promoted Hull City in the second match of the opening weekend. Fans can also participate in a digital challenge linked to Coca-Cola's products, which involves creating videos showing how they enjoy football or meals with Coca-Cola and sharing the content on social media.
