Coca-Cola Bucks Trend as Sugary Drink Sales Decline
The Coca-Cola Company has bucked the trend of declining sugary carbonated drink sales in China, despite the overall decline of such beverages.
In the second quarter of this year, Coca-Cola recorded revenue of $13.38 billion, a 7% year-on-year increase, and net profit of $4.438 billion, up 17%. The company's CEO, Henrique Braun, attributed the success to the Asia-Pacific market, including China, where it has achieved overall volume growth in almost all beverage categories.
Coca-Cola's performance stands in contrast to the decline of sugary carbonated drinks and the contraction of the domestic beverage market. However, the company's ability to adapt and innovate has allowed it to remain a top player in the market.
