Coca-Cola Challenges Always-On Culture with 'The World Will Wait' Campaign
Coca-Cola has launched a global campaign called 'The World Will Wait,' which aims to challenge the always-on culture of constant connectivity. The campaign targets Gen Z and Millennials, who are often juggling busy schedules with a desire for real connection.
The idea behind the campaign is that some things can wait, but shared meals with people you care about cannot. Coca-Cola's films, such as 'Laptop Face' and 'The Most Important Meeting,' show relatable scenarios where people are pulled toward work or notifications, only to realize that the meal they're sharing with loved ones is what truly matters.
The campaign also borrows from gaming culture by using the term AFK (Away From Keyboard) to reframe being offline as a choice rather than an apology. Influencers will be encouraged to share their own experiences of stepping away from screens and enjoying meals with family and friends, making it feel like a social and repeatable behavior.
Coca-Cola's out-of-home and digital creative will use lines that contrast everyday 'urgent' tasks with the irreplaceable feeling of eating together. The campaign is less about inventing new behavior and more about naming one people already feel, the tension between being constantly connected and enjoying real time with others.
