Coca-Cola Family Feud Over Private Island Paradise on Cumberland Island

The Coca-Cola family's private island paradise has become embroiled in a bitter feud between two branches of the clan.

High Point, a seven-house retreat on Cumberland Island off the Georgia coast, has been a treasured sanctuary for generations of Candler descendants since the Roaring Twenties.

The dispute centers around a land swap deal led by Sam Candler, an Episcopal priest and cousin to David Ball, who fears his branch will be frozen out once the deal goes through.

David Ball has vowed to bulldoze his own mother's house rather than see it fall into the hands of his kin, claiming 'they'll find a way to kick us off or drive us off' if they gain control.
