Coca-Cola Foundation Supports Recycled Plastic Infrastructure in India
The Coca-Cola Foundation has partnered with local organizations to support public infrastructure made from recycled plastic at the Pandharpur Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage in Maharashtra, India.
The initiative, part of the #MaidaanSaaf campaign, aimed to provide essential public amenities and waste collection infrastructure along the pilgrimage route. This included 20 women-friendly changing rooms with illustrated walls promoting responsible waste management, as well as two police watch towers for crowd management.
A total of nearly 2,000 waste bags were provided for plastic waste collection, and 1,000 raincoats were distributed to volunteers and police personnel supporting the Wari. Additional waste collection infrastructure was also deployed across key locations to encourage responsible waste disposal throughout the pilgrimage.
