Coca-Cola Hit with Class Action Lawsuit Over Ransomware Attack on Fairlife
A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Coca-Cola Company following a ransomware attack on its dairy company, Fairlife. The breach occurred on July 16 and included sensitive information such as names, Social Security numbers, and other private data of current and former employees.
The plaintiffs, who are current and former employees, claim that the company failed to properly maintain and implement security practices for the network and systems containing private information.
Anubis, a ransomware group, claimed responsibility for the breach on July 20, stating they had taken a terabyte of confidential data from the company. The plaintiffs are seeking damages, reimbursement for fees to monitor credit or freeze it, and other out-of-pocket costs as a result of the hack.
The lawsuit also requests that Coca-Cola provide lifetime credit monitoring and identity theft insurance to the members of the class action lawsuit and update its cybersecurity to prevent further breaches and protect both current and former employees' private information.
