Coca-Cola India and IRCTC Repurpose Waste on Branded Train Programme
Coca-Cola India and IRCTC have joined forces to introduce waste-to-value applications as part of their Sprite Tejas Express initiative. This partnership demonstrates how post-consumer packaging waste can be repurposed for practical uses in public spaces.
A specially designed flag created for the launch ceremony was made using recycled PET bottles, providing a visible application of recycled material within the branded train programme. The partnership also extends into public infrastructure at Lucknow Station, where benches manufactured using recycled plastic waste have been installed.
Each bench repurposes approximately 45 kg of post-consumer packaging waste, converting material collected after consumer use into a durable public asset. Devyani RL Rana, vice president - public affairs, communications and sustainability, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said, “In partnership with IRCTC, we are bringing practical waste-to-value solutions directly into public settings by transforming post-consumer waste into high-utility assets at prominent transit hubs.”
