Coca-Cola Leaves PepsiCo Behind in Health Trend
Coca-Cola is outperforming PepsiCo in the shift towards healthier drinks. Coca-Cola's early investment in zero-sugar drinks has paid off, with its second-quarter results showing a 16% growth globally for Coca-Cola Zero Sugar across all geographic segments.
This is not a fluke; it's the result of Coke's earlier and more comprehensive approach to sugar-free and functional drinks. The company is launching new products like Coca-Cola Zero Zero in Asia and Latin America, which has zero sugar, zero calories, and zero caffeine.
PepsiCo, on the other hand, saw its North American beverage volume fall 4% and its food business experience a 2% decline in organic revenue. Pepsi cited brand fatigue and pricing pressure as reasons for its struggles.
