Coca-Cola Partners with Vetropack on Reusable Glass Bottle Traceability
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners' German business, CCEP Deutschland (CCEP DE), has partnered with Vetropack and Myneral Labs to develop a digital traceability system for reusable glass bottles. The solution, which marks each bottle with an individual code, is seen as an industry first in the beverage sector.
The technology, created for 0.75 L bottles used by ViO and Apollinaris brands, has been introduced at CCEP DE's Bad Neuenahr and Lüneburg production sites. The companies aim to make the reusable cycle digital and transparent, enabling them to track how containers move through use cycles on an individual bottle basis.
Vetropack engraves data matrix codes onto bottles during glass production, while Myneral Labs provides AI-powered camera technology and software for data evaluation. CCEP DE manages the project's integration into ongoing production operations. The partnership won the German Packaging Award 2026 in the 'Digitalization' category.
