Coca-Cola Stock Splits: A History of Accessibility

Coca-Cola's stock splits have been a recurring theme in its history. The company has split its shares 11 times since its IPO on September 5, 1919. This includes seven 2-for-1 stock splits, two 3-for-1 splits, one 4-for-1 split, and a 1-for-1 stock dividend in 1927.

The most recent split occurred on July 27, 2012, when the company split its shares 2-for-1. This was done to put the stock price within a more attractive range for investors, particularly individual investors. At the time, Coca-Cola's shares were trading around $75.

Since then, share prices have climbed into the $90s, making another split plausible. However, management may see less need for one today due to fractional share trading, which allows individual investors to buy shares at virtually any price point.
