Coca-Cola System Celebrates 75 Years of Growth in Nigeria
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated the company on this milestone. Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, the president emphasized that the next chapter for NBC can bring more investment, stronger industries, better jobs, deeper local production, and greater opportunities for Nigerians.
NBC has grown significantly since its first production run in Ebute Metta in 1951. Today, it spans eight plants, eleven depots, and 52 commercial territories, supporting jobs, local supply chains, talent development, and community investment across Nigeria.
The Coca-Cola system, of which NBC is a member, has made significant contributions to the Nigerian economy. A recent economic impact study found that the system contributed approximately $1 billion in value-added economic activity across its value chain in 2024, supported more than 160,000 jobs, and sourced almost $601 million worth of goods and services from suppliers in Nigeria.
Coca-Cola HBC Chairman Anastasios G. David reflected on the company's origin, stating that it was a big, bold decision to invest in Nigeria, but also a statement of belief in the country's people and potential.
