Coca-Cola's Personalized Can Customization Platform Exposed as Biased
A recent investigation by Fox News Digital has revealed an inconsistent moderation system on Coca-Cola's personalized can customization platform.
The study tested various words and phrases within the 18-character-or-less limit, finding that mainstream religious phrases like 'Jesus is Lord' and political slogans like 'Make America Great' are blocked, while left-wing activism and right-wing group names are allowed.
Religious and faith-based expressions faced strict algorithmic suppression compared to secular or alternative viewpoints. Mainstream affirmations like 'Jesus is Lord' were blocked, while anti-theist and secular phrases like 'God is Dead' and 'Atheist Pride' were permitted.
The study also found that patriotic or right-leaning slogans like 'Make America Great' are not allowed, but left-wing political slogans like 'Defund the Police' are acceptable. Additionally, extreme and harmful phrases like 'Pedophile Pride' and 'MAP Pride' (Minor-Attracted Person) were permitted by the filter.
Coca-Cola's spokesperson acknowledged a technical issue affecting the personalization preview tool and stated that they are working to address it. The company has disabled the preview feature and paused new personalized product orders, but claims that all personalization orders are subject to moderation review after submission.
