Coca-Cola's Secret Empire: The Brands You May Not Know It Owns
Coca-Cola is one of the world's most famous brand names, first created in 1886. The company has grown well beyond its iconic soda and now owns numerous individual beverage brands.
Some popular brands owned by Coca-Cola include Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Costa Coffee, Fairlife, Minute Maid, Simply Orange, Gold Peak, Fuze, Powerade, Vitamin Water, Dasani, Fresca, Topo Chico, and Barq's.
Coca-Cola acquired Costa Coffee for $5.1 billion in 2018 to enter the hot beverage market. In 2007, it bought Glaceau, which included the popular Vitaminwater brand, for $4.1 billion.
The company has been expanding its portfolio through acquisitions and new product launches, often motivated by its rivalry with PepsiCo. For example, Coca-Cola released Dasani in 1999 to directly compete with Pepsi's Aquafina.
