Coinbase Boosts Tokenized Stock Roster with Six New Additions
Coinbase has significantly expanded its tokenized stock lineup on Base, adding six new tickers to the platform's roster. The newcomers include Amazon (AMZNc), Microsoft (MSFTc), SpaceX (SPCXc), Tesla (TSLAc), SanDisk (SNDKc), and MicroStrategy (MSTRc). This brings the total number of tradeable tokenized stocks on Base to ten, following an initial launch of four tokens in August.
The six new additions join the original four: Nvidia (NVDAc), Apple (AAPLc), Meta (METAc), and Alphabet (GOOGLc). These tokenized stocks are essentially digital wrappers around real shares, backed by actual holdings in regulated custody. When you hold a token like AMZNc, there's an actual Amazon share sitting in a custodial account backing it up.
These tokens unlock unique capabilities compared to traditional brokerage accounts. Trading happens 24/7, not just during market hours, and fractional ownership means you don't need to buy a full share of Amazon or Tesla. The tokens also plug directly into the broader DeFi ecosystem, with around 50 protocols offering support at launch.
The expansion comes weeks after the initial launch generated $10.8 million in trading volume within its first 24 hours for just four stocks. This demonstrates real demand for onchain equity trading, and with six more stocks now in the mix, plus the possibility of additional listings, that volume has room to grow.
