COMAC C919 Takes Flight Internationally
China's state-owned aircraft manufacturer, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), has taken a significant step in its bid to challenge Boeing and Airbus dominance with the first international flight of its C919 narrow-body jet. The plane flew from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking a major milestone for COMAC.
The daily round-trip service will be operated by Air China, which has partnered with COMAC on this venture. This move is seen as a challenge to the long-standing dominance of Boeing and Airbus in the global market.
COMAC's C919 made its maiden flight in 2023 and has been undergoing rigorous testing ever since. The company aims to secure certification for the plane by 2028, paving the way for commercial flights.
