Commerce Bank has made a significant investment in The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TRV), acquiring approximately $117 million worth of shares during the second quarter. According to its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commerce Bank purchased 530,801 shares of TRV's stock. This acquisition makes up about 0.25% of Travelers Companies' total outstanding shares.
The investment is not an isolated incident; several other institutional investors have also added to their stakes in TRV during the second quarter. GQG Partners LLC bought a new position valued at $789 million, while Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co., Academy Capital Management, CFO4Life Group LLC, and Quantbot Technologies LP all acquired new shares worth millions.
Travelers Companies' stock has performed well recently, with its earnings beating expectations by a wide margin. The company reported $10.04 earnings per share for the quarter, exceeding the consensus estimate of $5.41. Revenue also came in higher than expected, at $12.15 billion, up 0.3% from the same period last year.
