Companies Unite Against Rogue AI Threats
More than 100 companies from various sectors have joined an open letter calling for a coordinated global effort to strengthen cyber defenses against AI-enabled attacks. The signatories, which include OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic, warn that existing cybersecurity measures may not be sufficient as AI systems improve.
The letter, which was published on August 28, highlights the growing concern over the increasing sophistication of AI-powered attacks. It notes that such attacks are expected to become more widespread and pose a significant risk to critical services like hospitals, water treatment facilities, and internet infrastructure.
The signatories are urging governments and businesses to work together on a broader cyber defense strategy. They recommend that governments provide funding and support to organizations responsible for critical infrastructure and coordinate security efforts at local, national, and international levels.
