Congressman Trades Apples for Chips Ahead of New Apple CEO
Rep. John McGuire (R-Va.) made notable stock trades recently, swapping one Magnificent Seven stock for another, according to a disclosure on the Benzinga Government Trades page.
The transactions took place on August 18, where McGuire bought $1,000 to $15,000 in Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock and sold $1,000 to $15,000 in Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock.
This swap is significant as it was done two weeks before new Apple CEO John Ternus officially takes over on September 1. McGuire's position in the technology sector makes these trades notable, especially since he is a member of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation.
The congressman previously owned shares of both stocks and made a profit from selling Apple stock. He bought $1,000 to $15,000 in Apple stock on April 15, 2026, when it traded between $257.81 and $266.56. On the day of the sale, Apple stock traded between $305.74 to $311.49.
McGuire's purchase of Nvidia stock adds to his existing position and could indicate a preference for that Magnificent Seven stock. He has bought Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Microsoft stock all this year, ranking among the lower end of members of Congress who buy and sell stocks.
