Conley's Corporate PAC Money Loop
Cait Conley, a candidate who vowed not to accept corporate PAC money, has received tens of thousands of dollars from committees that take such contributions. According to NOTUS reports, nearly half of the federal PAC contributions to her campaign came from these committees. Conley's campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
The report highlights a workaround used by some Democratic leaders, including Jeffries, Clark, and Aguilar, to donate to candidates who pledge not to accept corporate PAC money while still receiving donations from corporations like Barclays, CVS, and UnitedHealthcare. This arrangement allows the flow of money from business interests into campaign accounts.
Lawler for Congress spokesman Ciro Riccardi stated that Conley's words mean nothing as she received tens of thousands of dollars from leadership PACs funded by corporate money, including defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Honeywell International. He questioned whether Conley will return the donations or commit to refusing contributions from committees accepting corporate PAC money.
Riccardi also criticized Conley for lecturing on corruption and getting money out of politics while funneling corporate dollars into her campaign through a side door.
