Consumer Staples Shine: Coca-Cola and Mondelez Deliver Strong Dividend Yields
Coca-Cola and Mondelez have outperformed the S&P 500 in 2026, rising 22% and 32%, respectively.
Despite their gains, both companies offer attractive dividend yields of 2.3% or more.
Coca-Cola boasts a 64-year streak of dividend increases, with a forward yield of about 2.3%. The company has grown its dividend at a 5% annualized rate over the past three years, backed by free cash flow.
Mondelez, on the other hand, has paid a consistent dividend since 2001 and currently offers a forward (12-month) yield of 3.2%. The company's revenue rose 2% year over year in the second quarter, with management citing emerging-market expansion as a key driver of growth.
However, both companies face some headwinds: Coca-Cola is involved in a dispute with the IRS over financial reporting from its foreign operations, while Mondelez is dealing with elevated cocoa prices that have weighed on margins and free cash flow.
