Contineum's Depression Treatment Fails Key Trial Endpoint

Contineum Therapeutics Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced disappointing results for its Phase 2 MOONLIGHT-1 trial of JNJ-5120/PIPE-307. The trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adult participants.

The primary endpoint was improvement from baseline in the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) total score at Day 5 compared with placebo, but JNJ-5120/PIPE-307 failed to meet this goal. However, the treatment showed no new safety signals and was well-tolerated.

Johnson & Johnson, which is developing the treatment under a global license agreement, will continue to assess the trial data, including prespecified exploratory endpoints. This analysis may inform next steps for JNJ-5120/PIPE-307, but it's unclear at this time what these steps might be.
