Contrarian Views on Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple: Are Investors Overestimating Their Prospects?
Three of the world's most heavily traded stocks are Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple. While many investors are bullish on these companies, one financial writer is taking a contrarian view.
Nvidia is the leader in artificial intelligence (AI) processing chip market with $89 billion worth of data center silicon sales last quarter, up 117% year over year. However, the high-performance processor business is changing as alternatives like Intel's central processing units and Alphabet's Tensor Processing Units are gaining traction.
Tesla's AI robotics work is also under scrutiny. CEO Elon Musk has predicted mass-manufacturing of humanoid assistants called Optimus by 2027, but investors may be overestimating the company's chances. Many other tech companies are working on their own AI-driven robots and could enter the market before Tesla.
Apple, despite its recent 150% rally since the end of 2022, is also seen as fully valued by some analysts. The company's digital assistant Siri relies on Google's Gemini, which may indicate a loss of competitive edge in the AI space.
