Cook's Legacy: Apple Soars Under His Leadership
Today marks the end of an era as Tim Cook hands over the reins to John Ternus at Apple. Cook's 15-year tenure has been one for the books, transforming the company from a $347 billion market cap in 2011 to over $4.6 trillion today.
A $1,000 investment in Apple stock when Cook became CEO would be worth around $23,600 today, significantly outperforming the S&P 500's return of about $6,500.
Cook's leadership has been marked by a focus on services, with revenue quadrupling from $108 billion in 2011 to over $416 billion in 2025. The iPhone alone accounted for $47 billion in sales when Cook took over, but now makes up just over half of Apple's sales.
