Corendon Airlines Returns Boeing 737 Max 8 Amid Industry Fleet Adjustments
Turkish holiday airline Corendon Airlines has removed its first Boeing 737 Max 8 from active service and returned it to leasing company BOC Aviation. The aircraft, registration TC-MKS, had been part of the provider's fleet since 2018.
The return of the plane took place within regular contractual timeframes and was factored into the flight schedule, according to a spokesperson for Corendon Airlines. The airline will compensate for the loss of passenger capacity during the remainder of the summer season using previously planned operational reserves.
This move is part of fleet changes at leisure airlines, which reflect current challenges in aircraft provision. Carriers are opting to let lease agreements expire to standardize fleet structures or adjust fixed operating costs, amid delivery delays and bottlenecks in engine maintenance.
