Cornelis Secures $205M to Challenge Nvidia in AI Networking
Cornelis Networks has secured $205 million in funding to challenge Nvidia's dominance in AI networking. The Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania-based company announced the investment on Monday, led by IAG Capital Partners. Cornelis is positioning itself as a direct competitor to Nvidia, which remains the default choice for AI and high-performance computing clusters.
The company has launched Active Compute Fabric, a new networking technology that allows AI chips to process and transmit data simultaneously. This approach differs from Nvidia's sequential processing method, making it more appealing to customers who want flexibility in their hardware and software stack.
Cornelis has its roots in Intel, from which it spun off in 2020. The company continues the Omni-Path networking product line originally developed for high-performance computing systems.
